It’s great to be back this week after a short break within the last fortnight due to other commitments. I thought I would spread some Christmas cheer this week because if you don’t already know, I enjoy Christmas so much, it’s such an exciting time of the year. In this post I want to share with you my favourite things about December. So please relax and enjoy!
My first must when it comes to December is decorating! This year I decided to decorate on the last day of November which isn’t supposed to be the case but it was a day that suited. I love tipping all the decorations onto the floor and getting that smell that you remember from the previous year.
I think I might have gone a little over the top this year as I decided to make a fireplace at the end of my bed! I wouldn’t be so guilty if I was in a country where it’s winter this time of year. That however, is not exactly the result for Australia. Never the less I think it’s a great addition to my decorated room and for those who are wondering, it’s not an actual fireplace.
Food is always a favourite no matter the time of year but when Christmas rocks around there are some delicious treats. I try and eat the candy canes, gingerbread cookies and chocolates in moderation throughout the month but personally on Christmas day I forget about moderation, if I haven’t already. Food is something that brings a family together and it’s also delicious so it’s got to be a favourite during December.
Music is something I have always enjoyed when Christmas rolls around. Christmas carols are so fun, no matter what anyone says. I don’t know one Christmas carol that doesn’t make me feel happy or warm. I have some great Spotify playlists playing throughout December which I can assure you have already started. Music brings joy and that’s what Christmas is all about so the more tunes, the merrier!
This favourite is a little odd but I believe it’s something that really makes December what it is. When I go down the street or to events with my family, we have the usual conversation with people and then everyone wishes each other a Merry Christmas. It’s a very small thing but it makes people feel so joyful and cared about which is the purpose. It proves that there is still plenty of good in the world.
Being a teenager means that this time of year marks the end of a schooling year. At this point everyone has had enough and I can’t agree more. When the last day of school arrives it will be such a relief as it means a huge break is in stall. After a whole year of education and taking in information, a well-deserved break is needed, bring on the Christmas holidays!
These are just some of my favourite things about December which is definitely the No. 1 month of the year, even if it gets a little busy. I’m sure plenty of people, especially parents will disagree, but it marks the end of a year and involves happy celebrations with all, what’s not to love about that.
